There is an understanding that you gain about a pound a day on these river cruises. From the feel of my waistband, the prediction is coming true. The buffets at breakfast and lunch always have something new and tempting and dinner has three courses with lots of choices - some the same every night, others what the chef feels like cooking and always something ethnic or local. We are being food critics every night and the consensus is that the food is generally mediocre. Lack of flavour is the most common complaint. But that doesn’t stop us from trying a starter, entree and dessert every night. Last night in Austria the dessert was Linzer Torte, tonight, Black Forest Cake - could you resist??

Wow, mediocre, that is so disappointing! Do you get any opportunities to dine on shore?
ReplyDeleteCan you skip the Caesar salad and anchovy (uck!) and have two tortes?
