Passau - a Super Day

My favourite stop so far is Passau, Germany. We spent the day here, with a guided hike in the morning and then set off to see the fortress at the top of the hill. Passau is one of Bavaria’s oldest cities and our lederhosen-clad guide sang its virtues. He has a law degree but is living the life before committing himself to a job - travelling and making money guiding.

View from the ship
Abbey across the Inn River (turquoise, glacial river)
Charming streets of Passau. Coloured cobbles are going to be changed in a few weeks - children bring paint pots and colour them. This year it will be yellow and red.
Glimpse of St. Stephen's Cathedral as we wander the streets of city's Altstadt (old town).
St Stephen's.  Incense fogs the air.

St Stephens Cathedral is a magnificent baroque church and we entered at the end of the Easter service and were treated to the full-throated music of one of Europe’s largest pipe organs.
