We are up and having a party in our room so why not be productive? Sleep came fast when we finally fell into bed after about 30 hours of no sleep but didn't last all night so its a good time to get up to date.
We had a long but uneventful flight with stops in Calgary and Amsterdam. Both stops involved long layovers but gave our bodies a chance to literally unwind. After a long queue at Customs we were greeted by two fresh-faced Hungarians carrying red signs who shepherded us to a waiting bus. The 45-minute drive seemed much longer with slow single-laned traffic winding through Budapest. We passed dilapidated, presumably communist-era housing and factories but eventually modern architecture began to appear and finally the river. Spring-brown and slow-moving, it isn't quite the turquoise of the Viking Ads but after hours of travel the red viking ship logo was thrilling to see. 24 hours after leaving home, we walked the plank of our new digs. The VE is long and luxurious and we felt like we had entered Downtown Abbey when we passed the uniformed staff as they greeted us in a line in the lobby.
